A full and long history of community enrichment began here on the island of Kauai January 10, 1971, when a group of interested citizens held an organizational meeting in the conference room of the Kauai Public Library, Lihue.

The following week on January 17th the first formal meeting was held, led by interim chairman, Russel Sus. The ideas from the previous organizational meeting were shared, and the following board members were elected who, in turn, elected officers, and KAUAI COMMUNITY PLAYERS was born.
